Welcome to AW Legalities, LLC

Hi, thank you for visiting AW Legalities, LLC. 

My name is April Welshhons, the Founder and President of AW Legalities, LLC. I am a veteran of The United States Army Reserves having honorably served for twelve years before retiring in 2020. I attended college at Dallas Community College and Texas Wesleyan University. My field of study was Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology for which I have an associate's and a bachelor’s degree. I am a proud mother to an eighteen-year-old daughter who is attending UALR and is also studying Criminal Justice. 

I created AW Legalities for two reasons. One is to connect with fellow veterans looking to further their education and help them connect with their local community colleges or universities. Second, as a part of my goal to connect with local groups and organizations that are as passionate as I am to educate our youth about the importance of local elections and politics. I hope that by connecting with local leaders, community-based groups, and educational institutions we can reach our high schoolers, current college students, and recent college graduates to help them understand why paying attention to their local politics is key to their futures. Most people only vote in the federal election. Yet it is who is serving on your local school board that determines what is taught, it is local judges that impose things like lockdowns, the members of the city council determine the budget which impacts law enforcement, repairs, and community support, taxes that are imposed on citizens such as property and sales taxes, and city ordinances, among other key resolutions, and who your mayor is determines how your city will be governed. 

I hope to engage with people across DFW in a collaborative effort to spread the knowledge of local voting. Today’s youth will be tomorrow's leaders.
